Split Bill Calculator

Divide a check fairly when everyone pays the same share. Add a tip percentage if you are tipping on the pre-tax total (adjust if your group tips on post-tax).

Split bill

Enter values.

How this is calculated

We compute grand total = bill × (1 + tip%), then per person = grand total ÷ number of people.

Example: $120 bill, 18% tip, 4 people → $120 × 1.18 = $141.60 → $35.40 each.

Use this tool for

  • Closing out a team dinner when the restaurant won’t split checks.
  • Splitting a vacation rental grocery run across couples.
  • Teaching someone how tip-included totals change the per-head number.

Common questions

Does this include sales tax?

Enter the bill total you want to split—if tax is already on the check, it is included. If you tip on pre-tax only, adjust the bill field or tip % to match your convention.

What if amounts differ per person?

This tool assumes an even split. For itemized shares, split large shared items here and settle side items separately.
