How it works
What this result means
The calculator converts between hourly, daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, and annual pay. Take-home applies an estimated effective tax rate to give you an after-tax approximation for planning purposes.
Formula:
Annual = Hourly × 2,080 (40 hrs × 52 weeks)
Where:
Take-home ≈ Annual × (1 − Tax% ÷ 100)
Monthly = Annual ÷ 12
Biweekly = Annual ÷ 26
Daily = Hourly × 8 (standard workday)
- Enter an hourly wage or any salary period — others are derived
- Adjust the effective tax rate estimate for your situation
- Take-home is gross minus the tax estimate only — does not include FICA or deductions
- Use a payroll calculator for a more complete net pay figure
Example
$25/hour → $52,000/year. At 22% effective rate: take-home ≈ $40,560/year or $3,380/month.
Use this tool for
- Comparing salary and hourly job offers
- Estimating how a raise changes annual or hourly pay
- Getting a rough before-tax or after-tax planning number
Common questions
- Is the take-home estimate accurate? It uses a flat percentage for illustration. Real paychecks depend on tax brackets, deductions, and location. Use it for ballpark comparison only.
- How many working hours per year are used? We use 2,080 hours (52 weeks - 40 hours). Part-time or different schedules need manual adjustment.
